The building, designed by Frank Gravely, took over eight years to construct and is a fine example of the Renaissance Revival architectural style of the 19th Century. Upon its opening, the Queen & Crescent Building was not only New Orleans' newest Skyscraper, but at twelve stories, it was also the tallest. After a series of owners and name changes, the Queen & Crescent Building was purchased by a group of New Orleans investors who spent over $12 million converting the historic building into a 196 room European style boutique hotel.
