:: INTRODUCTION ::

"If New Orleans is the best place in the country to party, then International House is the best place to sleep it off." - Travel & Leisure

Two blocks from the French Quarter in the Historic Central Business District in one of the world's most eclectic cities, is a hotel like no other. International House is about New Orleans today. It's about a tangible contemporary style and an intangible spiritual warmth weaving its way throughout. It's about the welcoming glow of amber light. It's about the lobby ever changing for summer and winter dress and in observance of rich local customs and rituals. There are layers upon layers to discover.

:: HOTEL FACILITIES ::

The eight pilasters along the walls of International House's lobby were constructed by a local company, Architectural Ornament, using original architectural drawings. In a longshot effort to restore the lobby to its original grandeur, we called the partner of the deceased grandson of the original architect, General Allison Owen, who after a long search, found and graciously provided to us the drawings from 1906. As you may recognize, the design of the building is a classic Beaux-Arts style design, and through these pilasters we have brought into the hotel not only an important original element, but a thread of that classicism. It is perhaps the contrast between architectural design and distinctly contemporary furnishings that make the lobby such a timelessly beautiful space.

:: RESTAURANTS & DINING ::

The Cuisine
Lemon Grass’s Kitchen, under chef Minh Bui and chef de cuisine Cynthia Vu tran, produces a menu blending traditional Vietnamese ingredients with classic French technique and a bounty of foodstuffs from the rich waters and soil of South Louisiana. Homestyle magazine best described the food of Lemon Grass when they stated: "It’s light and healthful, robust and zesty, full of big bold flavors, and is beautiful to serve."

The People
We are a team of people at Lemon Grass. Working together we create a complete diming experience. Food & Wine magazine says: "Shrimp dumplings may not come to mind when you’re pondering food choices in New Orleans. But chef Minh Bui’s Lemon Grass Cafι is such a hit that he is opening a second place, Lemon Grass Restaurant, in the French Quarter."

We invite you to experience Lemon Grass when you’re in New Orleans.

The Space
The Architectural Philosophy of Lemon Grass is one of beauty & balance, Feng Shui. New Orleans magazine commented: "Lemon Grass feels like a respite from what we've come to perceive as the CBD: severe buildings, business suits, handshakes. The space is light and refreshing, dreamy and almost fantastic, much like the food." Allow Lemon Grass to be your refuge.

:: ROOM AMENITIES ::

Taken as a whole, it is evident that International House is far more than simply a place to spend the night. International House is created around a distinct idea, one born of a love for New Orleans and a keen sense of time and place deeply rooted in its culture. One will begin to take notice how International House observes local customs and rituals, so we invite all to stop in and experience our seasonal changes and customs in full glow.

In addition to design, it is a ritual that truly sets New Orleans and International House apart from all others. Guests may discover the depth, diversity and beauty of celebrated traditions related to African-American and folk communities. Beautifully, they have given us jazz, ragtime and blues music. They have given us that rich culinary delight which is Creole cooking and they have provided us with intriguing days of observance, rooted rituals known to locals. International House proudly shares these celebrations with their guests.

Seven times each year the International House's captivating lobby is transformed in observance of important local customs, rituals and traditions. Alive with the energy of contemporary New Orleans, the hotel offers guests and locals alike a special experience.
