:: INTRODUCTION :: In 1877, Louis Amedee Coutourie built a house in the newly fashionable Italianate style. The exterior was graced with elaborate ornamentation and the interior was fitted with huge cornice moldings, carved plaster ceiling medallions, and the finest mahogany casework. In the last 125 years the house has gone through many owners but still retains the elegant style in which it was conceived. More recently the house has undergone an exten- sive five-year restoration and has returned pred- ominantly to a single-family residence. :: HOTEL FACILITIES :: The House Poised grandly on historic Esplanade Avenue, only three blocks from the historic French Quarter, the house is conveniently located for guests visiting for both business and pleasure. Esplanade Avenue is one of the three streets that, with the Mississippi River, outline the French Quarter. Bourbon Street is only six blocks from the front doors and the New Orleans Fairgrounds, location of the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, is just off Esplanade in the opposite direction. In addition, a three room suite has been opened in the main house. This beautiful spacious room has a king size sleigh bed, antique armoire, dressing room, and a bath with claw-foot tub and shower. This suite has access to the upstairs porch - a pleasant place to read or nap in the hammock, or enjoy a cocktail and conversation with friends. The house's original dependency units now house three guest suites each with private entrance off the pool and courtyard area. These fully furnished suites are individually designed and decorated with custom furnishings and linens. Each air-conditioned suite features one or two antique full size beds topped with a luxurious feather mattress. Other features include cable TV, individual telephone lines with free local calls and answering machines and a complete breakfast area with a refrigerator, microwave, and coffee pot. Each suite also has a hair dryer, an iron and ironing board, and umbrellas. CD players are available on request and gated parking is complimentary. Breakfast is provided each day and is delivered to the room the previous evening allowing guests to enjoy breakfast at their leisure. Coffee and juice are also provided. :: ROOM AMENITIES :: The Beaujolas Suite This very large unit is perfect for guests traveling with family, friends, and children. The unit has ten foot ceilings giving it a very airy feel and ceiling fans in both the bedroom and the living room. The bedroom features large windows and a four poster bed. A second full size bed is tucked in a corner of the living room area. A large bathroom off the bedroom features a marble tub and shower. Caution: this suite can be slightly noisy as it is located very close to Esplanade Avenue. The Sancerre Suite : One-bedroom, one bath suite with one full-size bed. Perfect for a couple or a single guest, this wonderful first floor unit has a fully stocked kitchen and a small dining nook. Hardwood floors, tall ceilings, and large windows add to the romantic nature of the unit. The beautiful Mahogany four-post bed has a wonderful feather mattress for a very cozy night's rest under the gentle breeze of the ceiling fan. A private marble bathroom compliments the room. The Medoc Suite : Two-bedroom, one bath suite with two full-size beds. Our most popular suite offers separate bedrooms, one on each floor, for larger parties traveling together. This is the only two-story unit on the property and offers access to a sweeping porch running almost half of the entire length of the property. Relax on the hammock or read a book and enjoy the breeze off the Mississippi. Large windows, wood floors, tall ceilings, and a claw-foot tub also add to the ambiance.
